Our View

Set in the south eastern area of the Okavango Delta, Gomoti Plains is a classic safari camp with lots to offer in terms of intimacy, and it really captures the authentic safari spirit. Its ethos is eco-luxury, so it’s not a place for travellers who want all the bells and whistles, but will blow you away if you’re after simple luxury in a marvellous slice of wilderness, surrounded by the Delta’s famed wildlife.

Gomoti Plains - The Facts

Gomoti Plains lies alongside one of the smaller Delta flood plains, with brilliant watery views out the front of camp, meaning many animals pass through. While the rooms are in theory back to basics, they are attractive and have an old school luxury feel to them. The fire pit is made in the classic safari style: on the ground, with a semi-circle of canvas chairs, like it’s always been done, and lanterns hanging in nearby trees.

The 10 tents - eight standard rooms and two family options - are entwined into the beautiful riverine forest setting, giving rooms a romantic and remote feel. Each benefits from outdoor showers, bathrooms, and a patio deck perfect for wildlife watching. While some camps lazily adhere to the classic safari style and can feel outdated, at Gomoti everything is intentionally stripped back, but rooms feel fresh with a modern edge.

The main area is a huge, open mess tent, which feels fully immersed in the surrounding nature with its earthy tones and comfortably furnishings. There is also a swimming pool, complete with sun loungers and parasols, adding a nice sprinkle of luxury to the experience.

Activities on offer here are the classic Okavango treats including boat safaris, mokoro rides, night drives, walking safaris and game drives, with brilliant concentrations of wildlife all around with its fabulous location just south of the Chitabe and Sandibe reserves.

There’s also the added indulgence of spa treatments on offer, reminding guests they are still staying in a world-class lodge - albeit under canvas.

The camp’s private concession means you can enjoy these sightings all to yourself, and the diversity in nearby habitats means safaris here are brilliantly varied and always exciting.
