North Island Okavango - The Facts
Due to the location of North Island Okavango - in the brilliant northern Khwai reserve on a pocket of land surrounded by water - it offers a unique private island experience.
Unlike many Okavango Delta lodges, which are located further out in the ‘fan’, North Island is in flood year-round, which guarantees wonderful water-based activities. More water also means a smaller area of dry land and therefore concentrated wildlife action, which the Delta, and this area in particular, is famed for.
The whole camp is 100% solar-powered, and each of the four rooms raised on wooden platforms offer a private plunge pool overlooking a wild lagoon, as well as outdoor and indoor showers.
Rooms feature a large four poster bed, spacious bathroom, and an outside seating area to admire the view from. While you’re technically in a tent, North Island couldn’t be further from it: it's luxury under canvas.
The main area consists of an open dining space under the stars and a boma set out into the bush, so guests can enjoy a truly wild sundowner. Those missing their exercise routines can make use of the outdoor and gym in the main area too, so it really has all the amenities here of a five star hotel - but without all the people.
In March 2025, two more tented suites and one family room will be added, taking the total room count to 7.
