Choosing your accommodation for a dream holiday is by no means an easy feat. Often people are swamped by the multitude of choices on offer, but luckily we are here to help. This page has been designed specifically to help you with your choices. Here we provide you with a comprehensive list of the best camps, lodges and hotels you can visit when booking with us. We highlight the significant differences in accommodation types and what they can offer. Our interactive menu below also allows you to search through each accommodation option, arranged by name, price, location and rating, at your own leisure.

Best Luxury Safari Lodges

With plenty of options to choose from, selecting your safari accommodation isn't easy. Different lodges can offer different experiences depending on what you are after from your holiday. Some lodges will only have small guest occupancy and offer intimate experiences, whereas other camps will cater for larger groups.

Camps can also be mobile meaning that they are not permanent structures and they will relocate depending on the season and where the animals are most likely to be. Due to the accommodation manoeuvring regularly, these camps are normally made up from a number of luxury tents. These tents however, dispel all traditional myths of what may come to mind if you think of camping. Their furnishings are luxurious and all your needs will be met. Their placement is also extra-close to the action and will certainly make you feel more at one with nature. If you have the opportunity to stay in these mobile camps, do it.

Best Beach Hotels

Just like the safari camps, there are many varying options when it comes to accommodation by the beach. Generally the more you pay, the more intimate and luxurious your accommodation will be, however we have options that can cater for all budgets. The beach hotels we offer can either be the base for a perfect romantic getaway or for an ideal adventure and activity filled holiday.

Best Safari Lodges

It is very hard to rank Africa lodges with one simple measure! Our ranking is subjective and tries to reflect value for money as well as overall quality. Therefore we may award just three stars to certain 'five star' lodges in the hotel, or five stars to some superb, unashamed 'three star' hotels that are great value for money.

Serengeti Serena - Serengeti, Central
This is a beautiful hotel that has a very personal feel to it (as good as a big hotel can go) and a great location in the park.  It has the edge on other hotels of its size, as the small huts allow for a real sense of privacy and feeling of being out in the bush.  It is a perfect place to spend a few days year round, but particularly during the migration months of May through to July.  If the more authentic option is something you are looking for we would recommend the mobile tented camps first, such as Dunia, but for the those wanting pools and for groups of children it is a good choice.

    Serengeti Sopa - Serengeti, Central
The Serengeti Sopa is a large hotel.  Not that this is necessarily a bad thing and the hotel certainly has its following with both the larger group tours and families.  However, for the smaller and more intimate trip, while it has a good location set away from the busiest areas of this central area, it can still feel too busy.  Our advice would be to go for the Serena Serengeti Hotel before Sopa.  The company is more reliable and most of all the the lodge is more modern and comfortable.  If you are looking for a larger hotel set in an area with year round reliable game (and the Migration from around June until the end of July) then the Serena is also wiser option.

Serengeti Under Canvas - Serengeti, Mobile
Serengeti - Serengeti Under Canvas. They have a great reputation and their service lived up to it. Our butler, Alex, was quick to prepare a shower and quick to offer a drink (we loved Amarula and Afrikoko liqueurs). Their chef was great.... we especially liked his soup recipes. They varied our eating arrangements to sometimes be at single tables on the lawn to sometimes having all the tables being under the dining fly. There's nothing that can compare to the romantic atmosphere of a gourmet dinner by candlelight in the wilds of the Serengeti. On the downside of Under Canvas.... they are not on top of their maintenance issues. The tent had missing zipper pulls, including the inside pull on the main door/flap, and had zippers that had ripped away from the canvas. The safari vehicles had plastic floor covering that was worn though and cracked. It didn't make the vehicles any less useful, but for the premium price paid for Under Canvas, it would seem they could afford to keep things close to 5-star quality. It also seemed odd that the staff was not as concerned regarding safety issues .... At our other camps, when we were escorted to/from our tents at night, the camp personnel would be shining flashlights / torches into the woods and grass to see if there were any animals and it was obvious that they were watching out for our (and their) safety. At Under Canvas, there did not seem to be any care taken when moving through the camp at night. The butler walked with us with a flashlight, but did not shine it anywhere but on the path, then he walked back to the staff area with no flashlight for himself. We probably wouldn't have noticed, so much, except that at Oliver's, when we were escorted to our tent, when the flashlight was shown through the grass, many eyes were looking back at us. All benign eyes, luckily. Under Canvas had all sorts of animal sounds at night, but the personnel didn't take any extra care to assure anything near our path was benign. Now to the wildlife. You suggested we stay 4 nights in Serengeti to increase the chances of seeing a crossing. Well we got to see wildebeest crossing the Mara River (our guide said 5000 or more) within 2 hours of landing at Kogatende!!!!!! It took our breath away. We had just landed at Kogatende and the guide picking us up said that we should hurry because the wildebeest looked like they were ready to cross, and he asked them to wait for us :) It was awesome. We watched them for a couple of hours gathering to the left, then turning and running to the right bank of the river, going down to the river's edge and then back again. And then all of a sudden one leaped into the river.......and we had a crossing. The vehicles all made a mad dash for the river's edge and for 19 minutes there were wildebeest leaping into the river, being swept downstream against the current, toward hippos and crocs, but from our vantage point able to make it safely to our side of the river. The only sounds were that of wildebeest gruntings and their hoofs pounding along the riverbanks. After 19 minutes all that were going to cross had and there was silence. It was so surreal - we were totally overcome by the moment! Our guide, David was with us for this and all our drives. He was very knowledgeable and really worked hard to find wildlife for us such as lions including cubs, leopard, zebra, impala, buffalo, giraffe, ostrich including nest with eggs, buzzards, kites, eagles, klipspringer, eland, waterbuck, topi, oribi, baby hyena, rock hyrax, grants and thomsons gazelles, even a dung beetle, and on and on and on.

    Serian Camp - Greater Mara
Serian in the Mara was great. The entire staff was as helpful as possible. Guides were knowledgeable. I liked that Serian Mara is secluded and away from most of the crowds. The staff was great, as everyone went out of their way to make our adventure special. The guides were very knowledgeable. The camp is located just above the river and I liked that we could hear the sounds of hippos all night long. The wildlife in the Mara is exceptional. Lions are everywhere. Plus we saw leopards, cheetahs, elephants, hyenas, zebras, crocs, and thousands of wildebeest. The river crossing is truly a special event. The living areas  at Serian are spacious with a deck that connects to the bath area. They are not mobile tents but permanent structures. Beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. I highly recommend Serian to any one who is traveling to the Mara.

    Serian Nkorombo - Greater Mara

    Our View

Once an ever moving mobile camp, Nkorombo found such an amazing spot on the Mara River in the Masai Mara reserve that it has taken up permanent residence. It has maintained the intimate and luxurious feel of a mobile camp but boasts year round amazing numbers of black rhino, leopard and lion as well as being perfectly placed for the river crossings of the great migration.

    Serra Cafema - Skeleton Coast

    Our View

Located on the Magical Kunene River in the far North of the country Serra Cafema is nestled on the banks of the river itself, the far side being Angola. The area here is outrageously beautiful and the camps location makes best use of the surrounding areas attractions. We would actually go so far as to say that Serra Cafema is not just one of Namibia’s finest camps but is one of the very best camps in the whole of Africa - the scenery here  is absolutely out of this world.

    Seyyida - Stone Town, Zanzibar
Seyidda is still reasonably new on the scene in Stone Town and has opened a up a great new option.  In comparison to some of the other hotels in its area, which are all a bit tired, Seyyida offers a new, well decorated accommodation.  New hotels can take a while to get up to speed, but during our stay we really enjoyed the hotel but we feel we should give it a little time.

    Shinde - Okavango Delta
The camp at Shinde was outstanding. The staff was fantastic. The Managers there appear to take all the feedback from their guests and implement their suggestions. The 4WD’s were beautifully equipped with insect spray, tissues and lollies as well as hot water bottles inserted into the car blankets in the morning. Hot water bottles were put into the beds at night time (which happened at all the other camps too except Linyanti Lagoon). Their library was equipped with many animal guide books and maps were on the walls. Sherry was even delivered to the rooms at night time. In addition to this, they served champagne for their sundowner drinks and nothing was a problem to any staff. They thought up fabulous places to set up the most beautiful sundowner drinks with delicious nibbles to accompany. Each location was a wonderful surprise and wonderfully executed. For our last night, they gave us our own private dinner party which was very lovely.
