Our View

Camp Hwange is a traditional bush camp, and a brilliant option for those who don’t need cutting edge architecture and all the luxuries to have a good time. Instead, you get atmosphere, cracking campfire tales and brilliant wildlife, with all the comforts you could need and a touch more, but without spending a fortune. It is an excellent value option.

Camp Hwange - The Details

Part of Wild Expeditions Africa, Camp Hwange was founded in 2010 in an ideal wildlife location - not to mention its own private concession - in Zimbabwe’s best safari park. Hwange offers the big five in buckets, and at Camp Hwange you don’t have to share your wildlife sightings with other guests. You pay a bit more for this luxury, but in our view, that is worth the money every time.

The camp itself is very intimate, with just eight airy, en-suite rooms. Each thatched room, has excellent views over the waterhole, so sometimes you won’t even need to get out of bed for your safari. One of these bandas is a two-roomed family complex, with two bathrooms.

The thatched main area sits in the middle of camp, with the four rooms on either side, and consists of a lounge, dining area, and equally enviable waterhole views. For those who like a splash of luxury, the camp’s newest addition is a cooling pool on a raised deck, perfect for sinking yourself into after a day of adventure. However, no amount of luxuries will take this camp away from its dedication to the fire pit, where guests will start and end their days. Activities include walking safaris, game drives, and night drives for all your safari dreams.

At $870 per person per night on an all-inclusive basis, you can’t go wrong with this Hwange option. It ticks all the boxes.
