Best Luxury Safari Lodges
With plenty of options to choose from, selecting your safari accommodation isn't easy. Different lodges can offer different experiences depending on what you are after from your holiday. Some lodges will only have small guest occupancy and offer intimate experiences, whereas other camps will cater for larger groups.
Camps can also be mobile meaning that they are not permanent structures and they will relocate depending on the season and where the animals are most likely to be. Due to the accommodation manoeuvring regularly, these camps are normally made up from a number of luxury tents. These tents however, dispel all traditional myths of what may come to mind if you think of camping. Their furnishings are luxurious and all your needs will be met. It is very hard to rank Africa lodges with one simple measure! Our ranking is subjective and tries to reflect value for money as well as overall quality. Therefore we may award just three stars to certain 'five star' lodges in the hotel, or five stars to some superb, unashamed 'three star' hotels that are great value for money.

Anyone wishing to explore the more natural joys of Cape Town will welcome the tranquillity of The Last Word, Long Beach at Kommetjie. It is far from the centre of town and menus are simple, but the National Parks and beaches of the peninsula are close at hand, and there is a lot to explore here.

Our View
The Leeu Eastate, Leeu House and Le Quartier Francais help make up the Leeu Collection. Situated in the unique Franschhoek valley, each property has its own style and feel to it. The Eastate is a mountainside country house with its own boutique winery whereas Leeu House and Le Quartier Francais are both set in the heart of Franschhoek village with access to some of South Africa's finest restaurants.

Our View
Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is a boutique safari hotel. Contemporary in style, the lodge would not be out of place were it in the centre of New York! Incredibly fresh design and wall to wall windows revealing the bush beyond, the private pools and amazing bathrooms would be fit for any luxurious city hotel. Without doubt a serious contender for the most luxurious property in the Kruger and one that certainly has the most unique design.

Lion Sands Narina Lodge | Sabi Sands - Kruger
Our View
Lion Sands Narina Lodge is much like it's sister lodge Tinga. Situated on the banks of the Sabie River, Narina also has breath-taking views but isn't as family friendly. Like Tinga, the concession consists of a five-thousand hectare traverse in between the Sabie and Sand Rivers where Big 5 game viewing is very good.

Lion Sands River Lodge - Sabi Sands
Our View
Designed to offer more affordable accommodation than the nearby Ivory lodge, Lions Sands River lodge is the collections largest hotel and also its most affordable. The accommodation is simpler than the incredibly impressive Ivory Lodge and caters for a less ‘showy’ market. Game viewing in the area is just as good as at Ivory so the lodge is a great option for a more economical trip to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Lion Sands Tinga Lodge | Sabi Sands - Kruger
Our View
Situated in a private concession within the boundaries of the Kruger National Park, Lion Sands TInga Lodge allows guests to explore unseen parts of the National Park which give access to a beautiful variety of wildlife off of the main tourist roads in one of the most luxurious lodges. Whilst Kruger National Park visitors have restricted road access, staying at Tinga allows exploration into areas that regular Kruger visitors could only dream of.Our Rating:

Little Garonga - Other Reserves
Our View
Little Garonga is a magical place to take exclusively with family or friends, and it really nails the idea of safari intimacy, but with some big splashes of luxury. It’s in a brilliant game reserve where wildlife is easy, and importantly you also get brilliant bang for your buck. While this level of safari living would be over $1,500 per person per night in the Okavango Delta, here it’s $820.

Londolozi Founders - Sabi Sands
