Liuwa Plain is situated on the upper Zambezi floodplains of western Zambia. Liuwa is a place of abundance and diversity, home to the second largest wildebeest migrations in Africa, offering spectacular sights of thousands of animals.
Herds of zebra, tsessebe and lechwe also graze the plains. This also brings a variety of predators such as wild dog, hyena, cheetah and lion. Liuwa also supports a vast bird population, with more than 330 species recorded here. This park truly has something for every safari enthusiast.

Described on the Norman Carr Safaris website as ‘simple yet extremely comfortable’, Liuwa Plains Camp rather undersells itself! It is certainly extremely comfortable and although ‘simple’ that’s the last thing that crosses your mind on entering camp, it is a simply stunning bush camp!
The new King Lewanika camp is beginning to put Liuwa Plains well and truly on the map. It always should have been - the park itself in our view is enough of a selling point. However, King Lewanika is the first truly luxurious lodge in this magically wild park - if you have been on safari a few times and are seeking the ultimate off the beaten track luxury safari... Then King Lewanika has to be first on the list.
Often described as a photographers dream, guests will see thousands of wildebeest in the second biggest wildebeest migration on earth, discover various species of rare birds (330 species, some in flocks of hundreds), follow cheetah hunt in the plains or watch clans of up to 50 hyena interact at their den and fantastic Wild Dog sightings.
