Praslin is quieter and less populated than Mahe, and a perfect location for exploring its gorgeous beaches and nearby islands, such as its laid-back neighbour, La Digue. Or simply relax on the beach with a cold beer...
Praslin is the second largest island in the
Seychelles, fairly developed, with some good mid-range boutique and resort-type hotels. However, this is the Seychelles and accommodation here is expensive for what it is!
Praslin can be visited in a day trip from Mahe, or it's worth a short stay here as a jumping-off point to explore the small, sandy pathways of nearby La Digue island.
From Praslin, you could take time to explore the Vallee de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can see the the strange and beautiful Coco de Mer, the largest seed in the world and the signature of the Seychelles’ wealth of natural phenomena. The park is also home to five other endemic palms together with a wide range of wildlife, including the rare Seychelles black parrot.
Praslin does provide that slice of Indian Ocean luxury that holiday-goers are after, but also with a lot more to offer. Although expensive, it is a great option for lots of different kinds of travellers.
