Hud Hud Camps, Wahiba Sands - The Details

The Wahiba sands desert is easily reachable from Muscat, yet it still offers a feeling of true remoteness and can combine well with some of the luxury hotels in Muscat or the Al Hajar Moutains.

Hud Hud's Wahiba sands camp is without question the best in this area, due to its mobile nature the camps can be positioned in some of the most remote locations, boasting some breath-taking views over the desert landscape. The tents are authentic, handmade Bedouin tents, carefully selected for the environment. Each tent has large beds with real mattresses, Arabian rugs and throws. The Majlis (or mess tents) are tastefully furnished with bespoke fabrics and comfortable cushions surround a charming seating area, as night falls the tents beautifully lit with candles and oil lamps. The camp creates an incredible atmosphere, taking guests back to a luxurious Arabian encampment. Staying in this kind of luxury in the middle of a sand desert is quite simply breathtaking. Watching the golden light set over the golden dunes, followed by a star filled sky which leads into the beautiful hazy desert sunrise is an experience that can not be missed if travelling to Oman!

Driving into and back from the desert can be turned into an adventure in its own right. You will drive past old forts, castles and tombs ancient tombs, dating back to 3, 200 BC. There are a number of stunning wadis and canyons, amazing areas of greenery in such surrounded by such rugged and arid landscapes, but make for perfect picnic swimming spots.

Many guests choose to combine nights in the mountains with a stay in the Wahiba Sands. This gives them the opportunity to explore two of Oman's very beautiful and very different environments.
