Finally opened in May 2017, Miavana is the long awaited "next best thing" in the Indian Ocean. Simply amazing with no expense spared...

Located on the private island of Nosy Ankao off the north-eastern coast of Madagascar, Miavana has just 14 exclusive villas (1, 2 and 3 bedrooms starting at 450sqm). It is much more than a beach or island destination and despite the fact that it has pristine white beaches it also offers outstanding marine biodiversity. With four different species of turtles, a fantastic reef surrounding the archipelago provides excellent fly fishing (catch and release), diving and snorkelling, and deep sea fishing is also available.

It has been designed by the same team who designed North Island in the Seychelles, where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge spent their honeymoon and lives up to North in all respects One of the sub islands in the archipelago has one of the largest nesting tern sites in the world, with tens of thousands of birds seen between June – Sept each year. Miavana is located opposite a protected area on the Madagascan mainland and offers guests the chance to go lemur trekking, with a 99% chance of seeing endemic species, and forest walks.

Helicopter trips to visit nearby national parks, including Ankarana NP for the fascinating tsingy rock formations, and kite surfing will keep the adventurous amused!

Dreamy, dreamy dreamy - we put off our trip to Madagascar until Miavana had finally opened and it was amazing - so well worth the wait. Getting to Diego Suarez was an adventure in itself but from then the helicopter to and from the island was a breeze.
